Final project

For this project, I started by capturing over 300 images across several locations: the library, Fox Commons, a room in Coleman, and briefly outdoors. The outdoor shots didn’t turn out as I hoped, so I decided to focus on the indoor images. From there, I went through the process of selecting the strongest photos based on lighting, angles, and overall feel. I narrowed the collection down to 64 final images.

My editing process focused on adjusting the lighting and tones to create a cohesive look across the series. I experimented with both natural and artificial light, starting with a plain camera setup and later introducing flash in almost every space we used. I tried to explore a wide range of angles and perspectives to push myself creatively and avoid repetition.

One challenge was making the edits feel consistent, especially with lighting differences across locations. I’m proud of how I created a unified visual style while still showing variety in framing and composition. The process helped me grow in both technical skills and creative decision-making.

This project becomes a Text through its storytelling. Each image contributes to a visual narrative—through setting, emotion, and composition. The sequence of photos invites the viewer to interpret meaning, mood, and intention, much like reading written text. It’s not just about capturing a subject; it’s about how that subject is communicated, visually and emotionally, to an audience.
