Stepping into an unknown
Hi everyone! I’m Natalee!
If I’m being honest, I have never really seen myself as an artist. I have always admired people who are artistically talented. The ones who can create something out of nothing. That has just never felt like me, although my siblings have had that talent my sister is able to draw and my other sister is able to paint although the only art I’ve ever really taken is collage art which may I add I do not think I was too good at it.

One thing I have been drawn to is photography. I think it is beautiful how you can capture a moment and relive it over and over again. I often look at old photos just to be able to reminisce moments with friends, family, sunsets, or anything that has ever gone on in my life. When I saw that this class would include photography and editing, I decided to give it a shot. I have always loved the look of social media accounts with beautiful put together pages full of edited pictures and or videos whether it is a sports team or just someone’s personal account. The way technology allows us to connect and share is amazing to me.
My family uses social media a lot to stay connected since most of them live in California and we don’t get to see each other often. It’s a way to share what’s going on in our lives and bridge that distance with photos. A lot of my family I have not seen in around 8-10 years so photos are the best way to keep up with how old most of us are getting and the achievements, hobbies (for me volleyball and track),colleges (most of us are in now) and many more things. McLuhan said “technology is reshaping and restructuring patterns of social interdependence and every aspect of our personal life.” The tools we are able to use to share and connect are changing the way we experience relationships and creativity and I think that’s something so exciting and important that we have.

Im really hoping that this class will help me explore that some more and I’m excited to learn and experiment with that!
I totally agree with you, photography is a great way to reminisce. Looking back at pictures taken 10 years ago or even a few months ago is a really interesting way of seeing how things in your life have changed.
