Music

 For this project, I made the 1 minute sound using only songs by SZA, selecting and editing different song clips from Good Days, Snooze, Nobody Gets Me, Kill Bill, Blind, Open Arms, Love Language, and a few other songs as well. John Cage’s idea that all sound is music, I focused on how different parts of her songs could blend together to form a new piece of music.

My creative process involved choosing lyrics that went together, cutting them to fit, and arranging them in a way that felt natural. Instead of simply placing songs back to back, I paid attention to the sound bars on the screen to see if they would align and adjusted placement accordingly. The final piece is a reflection of how music can be repurposed and reimagined. Cage challenged traditional music structures, I used existing music to create something new while keeping its original emotional depth intact.
